If you're going to spend time recording on your computer I recommend getting an Mbox (or something similar) since recording through your line in won't sound all that great. Since garageband can "hear" the KP its probably that your volume/levels in garageband, your computer, or the speakers. Is your new track a "real instrument" track and is your audio driver set to line in? On garageband its normally set to built in mic by default. I've tried messing around with the Audio Output options on the Garageband Preferences under 'Audio/MIDI' tab but nothing. When I open up a basic track on garageband and play the Ka Pro i can see the levels move on the track but no sound. Ok, now I've put the pad in via the RCA into the line in on the mac. Make sure you are connecting it to the line input, and that you are selecting that input for an audio track in garrageband.
